Welcome

It was an amazing January.  We have been celebrating a holiday that is very near and dear to our hearts, Chinese New Year.  It has been a rewarding month with little snowfall and exciting new adventures.  The toddlers have enjoyed their newly innovated bathroom and the preschool children love going to Taekwondo. We would like to welcome six new children to CCLC who started in January or will start in February. These children are: Daniel Endsley, Roxy Howard, Ethan Jiao, Kyra Mills, Roselyn Mills and Addyson Vershum. We also are excited to introduce our new teacher Heidi Blankenbaker. Please help us welcome all of them to the CCLC community.

Kindergarten CCLC Options for 2012-2013

Saline Area Schools recently decided to discontinue the Young 5s and the half day Kindergarten program for the 2012/2013 school year.  They will only be offering all-day kindergarten.  In order to meet the children's developmental needs, CCLC will start a Kindergarten program with our young 5s in mind to correspond with this change. Our goal is to prepare our students to enter Kindergarten the following year or advance to First Grade if they are developmentally ready by implementing an individualized curriculum and providing a flexible and relaxing learning environment. We will host an informational meeting at CCLC on February 22, 2012 at 7:00pm. We encourage all the frog room parents to attend this important meeting.

Maintaining a Healthy Environment

“An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure". We believe hand washing including applying hand sanitizer is the most efficient way to prevent illness from spreading. We have placed hand sanitizer in each classroom. In addition to washing hands before snacks, meals and after using bathroom, hand sanitizer is applied to every child, except infants, when they arrive at CCLC from home. This practice has greatly reduced the number of absences due to illness in the past years. We would like to thank those of you who are vigilant and supportive of our efforts to provide the healthiest environment possible for your children.  

Holiday Green Sale Result

We raised $450 from the Holiday Green Sale at the end of 2011. This fund has been used to offset the cost of the bathroom innovation in the Infant/Toddler house. Please keep in mind we have all occasion cards sale on going all year long in both buildings, $1.50 each. It is convenient and inexpensive.  Please pick one up if you ever need a card for any occasion. Just put the money in the deposit boxes located in each building. Thanks again for your support!

Parent’s Night Out

We would like to remind you of Valentine Parent’s Night Out on Saturday, February 18, 2012 from 5:30pm to 10pm.  We are expecting a large turnout since the date falls around Valentine’s Day and spaces are limited.  Please turn in your Parent’s Night Out form as soon as possible so that we can staff accordingly.
